took dogs to park. was switching squish's leash from short to long; distracted by chatty passer-by. let go of short leash without loopin handle of longleash round wrist. was holding longleash... of course there had to be a cat at that very moment, didn't there?
squish runs fast. I have no hope of keeping grip on longleash. it sliced and burned through the fingers of right hand like acid razor ribbon. hence bad typing and short words.
squish lost sight of cat and stood in middle of park trying to see where it went. i callled and he came. squish = very good boy indeed.

Edit: After several hours of intense pain whenever I took my hand off the icepack, it's died down to a slight tenderness and an impressive collection of blisters. I can type and use the mouse again. HOORAY!
