Vet for Spike again today. His gum is now very swollen and pus oozes out of the roof of his mouth when I press on it. This time we got our favourite vet in the world, Jenny who looked after my old dog Scampi and has done her fair share of Spike repairs as well; she said that my working theory (that he probably has a splinter or something stuck deep inside his mouth) sounded the likeliest. She didn't think it looked like a rotted tooth either - I was pretty sure it wasn't myself, but I asked her anyway, I want to cover all the bases.

He has another course of antibiotics on the grounds that it can't make anything worse and might help, but he's going in for surgery on Friday. Jenny's going to find out exactly what it is and take it out. I'm going to try very hard not to lose my brain while he's away from my side.
