...I've loved Dire Straits since Makin' Movies was released, in 1980. John loved them too, and one of their songs is one of my theme songs. They're heavy, for me, with decades of meaning and resonance. I love it when people randomly remind me of things I turn out not to have forgotten.

Someone mentioned Barrett's Privateers in a TrekBBS thread and now I can't stop playing and singing it.

I have two versions - Stan Rogers, and one which claims to be The Irish Descendants in the metadata and Great Big Sea in the filename, and which I suspect of being both together. Anyone got any others? I love this song!

It makes the dogs excited, too.
