Maybe you'll find direction

I bet you thought I wasn't going to get round to it, but here we are - the final results of the marvellous, mechanical Mouse Organ er, I mean Music Meme!

[livejournal.com profile] the_reader requested "something that lifts the spirit, one of those songs that seems to lift you out of yourself and show you how beautiful the world truly is."

You know, I don't have an awful lot of songs like that. When my spirits need lifting I tend to play the Dead Kennedys or the Sex Pistols - I have a feeling that's not quite what you had in mind.

So I scrolled down my playlist, thinking "what the hell, what the hell have I got remotely like that that he won't already have?" until I came to this: The Grateful Dead - A Box Of Rain. This is a song that has that precise effect on me, although it rarely fails to make me cry. Enjoy.

[livejournal.com profile] flirtyberry requested "Something rich, soft, comforting."

As I said above - the music I personally find comforting tends not to be what people expect, and it's usually not soft. But then I remembered this one, which actually fits both sets of criteria quite well: Neil Young - Harvest Moon
