Villains always blink their eyes

So I've been catwatching in the mornings, instead of just throwing them their chicks and going to drink my coffee, and now I know why Fat Hamish Kitten is fat and the three girlcats aren't. I throw in four dead day-old chicks and each cat grabs one. The girl cats start playing with theirs, flipping them in the air, batting, mock-killing them before they start eating. Hamish doesn't bother. He grabs one, takes it to the corner cushion and MUNCHMUNCHMUNCH. This morning, he had finished his chick entirely before any of the others had actually started eating theirs.

So instead of leaving him to steal maybe all three of their chicks, I picked him up and took him for a photo-session, and shut the bedroom door so the girls could eat without being mugged by a greedy man cat twice their size.

I included my hand in the pics for scale. Please note I do not have tiny dainty little hands. He's not quite five months old yet and he really is that big.

he is utterly lovely to touch and hold and snuggle, although it's taken me two months of patience and food bribes to be allowed to touch him at all. He's painfully shy, poor darling.

and fat. but I am hoping that stooping him from eating all the chicks will sort that out.
