Just hanging around

Bournemouth Hospital's on a virus alert and has banned visitors. That puts me at a loose end for the day, and I am very much not reassured to hear that Mum had diarrhoea and was vomiting yesterday.

Sister T had labour pains from Saturday night through to Sunday afternoon, but they didn't become frequent enough to go to hospital and then they stopped. Mum says - I wouldn't know this stuff - that's an awfully long time for false labour pains. No news since yesterday.

Sister E came and took Maisie away yesterday afternoon. Apparently she yowled and crapped in the cat carrier all the way to London, immediately dived behind the cooker on arrival and hasn't come out yet. That's about what I expected. I'll be surprised if E sees her this side of Wednesday, but she really didn't like being on her own and Mum looks like being in hospital at least another two weeks. I still think we did the right thing.

Mum wants me to carry on going to Grimmauld Place every day and tidy. I don't think I'm being unreasonable and selfish refusing to do it for at least the next few days.

Sis had false labour pains for about the same amount of time, plus her waters broke then. 24 hours later, labour started for real, and continued for another 30 hours ... so your niece/nephew could arrive soon (don't tell your sis about 30 hour labour - most women I've told visibly blanched!). She just needs to keep in touch with the midwife to check everything is okay.

I hope your mum feels a bit better soon and that her troubles aren't related to the virus alert. And no, I don't think you're being unreasonable about the cleaning - after all, no one's there to notice anyway!

Mum's had digestive trouble on and off for a while so the symptoms are nothing new for her - that thought is reassuring, at least. But they are the same symptoms as the virus that's closed the hospital. A bit worrying.

Poor T, I hope it doesn't go on that long - although I know she'll be happier if she doesn't have to be induced.

quite! Besides, the sort of tidying that house really needs is best done with a blowtorch...

3 gallons of gasoline and a match.

there was a crime show (bbc, i'm assuming) on pbs where the arson was managed by smearing vaseline on lab rats and setting them on fire and letting them loose inside the ducts of an old building.

The rats'd dash out of the house in fastidious disgust, I believe...

now that's saying something! :)

I hope your mother recovers from those symptoms and stays clear of the virus alert.

I think it is very sensible, not lazy. I hope your Mum is OK and your little neice or nephew arrives safely when the time is right. At least you have a Squishy serenade to lift your spirits and keep your mind off things!

Maybe your mum should rent her flat out for the research mentioned in my LJ post here:

Heck, if they're right, kids exposed to Grimmauld Place should live forever
