Lesson of the day? Don't get attached to virtual pets that live on someone else's servers. It feels a bit like someone snuck in and replaced Spike and Squish with badly-made poseable plastic dolls while I was sleeping. And then expected me to be pleased about it.

I remember the OTHER time they did that a year or so back...I was all sorts of annoyed.
And the lupe is getting more and more catlike with each change...

I'm more than annoyed. My Eyrie and Pteri both look like they've been killed, stuffed and mounted - and my Pteri's fucking cross-eyed! And my poor beautiful Krawk. I spent nearly three million NP making him look like that, and now he looks fucking retarded.

There's this, from the News page: "We would also like to mention that if you aren't happy with the change to any of your Neopets, don't go hunting for a morphing potion just yet! You may find justice early next week. ;)"

I am really hoping that means we may yet have the option to revert to the old artwork. It's still on the servers. Because if not, I don't see myself staying. I can't look at those ghastly caricatures every day.

That is what is worst of all, for those of us who want our pets not to look all cutsie, we have to earn all the NP to get what we want, only to have them change the image file a month or so down the road.
It's really unfair.
They should make a few poses perhaps that one can choose from for their pet's specific coloring to represent, but I -hate- how they do things like this.

And I dont' even get what that little message means...it's not april fools or anything, what are they even doing? Ohhhhh, Neopets.

And that's another thing. There are no poses any more. They don't look sad when a shop's out of stock, they don't look happy when you feed them, they don't look angry when they battle - just the same stiff, dead pose the whole time. It's heartbreaking.

Also, do you remember the little personality quirks they asked for when you create a pet? Those are now displayed on the pet lookup - BUT they are all the same. "Captain_Snarkwing likes gathering food.
When meeting others, Captain_Snarkwing would act very friendly."

When I created him he liked hunting (I think) and taunting others from a distance. Hate, hate, hate, hate.

Aw man, I remember the different poses and emotion, they were fun. Why does Neo have to do these things, it doesn't make them better. Sometimes no change is best...

I created my pets forever ago, so I didn't get to choose the personality things for them, I wonder if that is an option now...

I may have to get consumed by Neopets instead of Sims Pets on my two week break from school, tough call.

No, absolutely. I'm not especially into Kougras, so I don't have a clear memory of what they looked like before. But I know how upsetting it is. I've been obsessed with Neo for months, but this has made me seriously wonder if I can bear to keep playing.

See, at least when LJ redesigns, they give warning and take feedback. The Meepit On News thing doesn't count as warning.

To be fair to TNT, I approve of the changes generally, except for the changes to the pets themselves. They've stripped all the life, grace and character from them. It makes me wince to look at them now, and I loved them so.

Tell me about it. Snarkwing's a right bastard when you get to know him - hello, PIRATE? Plunder, burn and the other thing? And Snarktobriana (the Pteri) is a sarcastic bad-tempered bitch who pretty much loathes everyone. And she's a soldier. And suddenly - her hobby is gathering food?

The only one that fits the description of my four is Minnata the Egyptian hippy. XP And maybe nellaixy, she was supposed to be just my adopted lab ray pet after I got the other three the way I wanted them. She lacks in personality yet.

I always loved Desert Kaus - also, one of the few pets that hasn't been transformed into a loathsome travesty of itself. Lucky Minnata.

I never got a lab map for my main account because I already had them all the way I wanted them. My poor Grarrls on my side account, though - they look like balloon animals now. And one of them is missing his mouth.

I can quite easily see myself leaving neo over this, and just keeping my pets alive in their true incarnations over at my Neopets RP community... that's where they really live. They're a bit too inclined to behave in ways unsuitable for the Neopets site itself.

All the layouts I made for User Lookups are destroyed. D: At least, until I tweak them. But honestly, it'd just be easier to start over... Bye bye time and effort!

The site updates were extremely inconsiderate and not for the best.

I know! I had a beautiful lookup on my main, too, all piratey and so fine. It's the pets that really kill me, though.

No idea what Neopets are but I very much can imagine that you're not happy when someone takes something you like and then totally re-style it. *hugs*
