That would be either
adjectivemarcus or
watervole, both of whom I knew in my teens before there even WAS Livejournal; pretty much before there was an internet, come to that.
We don't talk that much any more, though I watch what you're doing with interest all the same. But both of you have been a huge influence on me and my life of the mind. Both of you have some wonderful memories attached to you, and you're both still to some extent the person I'd want to be when I grow up. Love you!
I give a shoutout to
peladon as well, although he came in later than the other two chronologically - but not by much, and because everything else I said applies to him too, in spades. LOVE YOU.

I realised recently that I have one character that's always been with me. He has had a bunch of different names and he's been a bunch of different character classes under different game systems with different gaming groups and individuals, and for a long time that stopped me noticing that he was actually the same person - the same essential character core - all along.
I think perhaps that's what Philip Pullman was getting at with daemons. He's recognisably not me, although he's quite like me in a lot of areas; he is equally recognisably still himself.
His current incarnation feels to me like the most real - either because he shows me more of his true self with every year or because he and I are both inclined to live in the present.
He doesn't play the bagpipes in this life, but he's not forgotten you :D
Melted wax...
(Anonymous) 2009-04-28 12:17 pm (UTC)(link)It is said that if you rub your fingers ever so softly in the wax that has run, then they can feel the ghost of the flame warming them. Me... I'd tell you what I think, but I am the least of thinkers. And I need no wax to feel your flame still...
