Gonna turn this thing around
Bye now, 2010. I can't call this one a bad year or a good year - I lost my Dad, but my greatest fear had been that I'd lose him without finding him first, and that didn't happen. Spike got cancer, but we fought it and (touch wood) we won. The DWP and my own glands conspired to undermine every foundation holding me up, but I'm still standing.
2010's been the year with no middle ground. I've been wrestling a tiger all year, and some days he wins and some days I do. I've been holding my own, I'm even starting to move forward, but I am so godfucked tired and gunshy now. I really need a break from "interesting times." I hope to fuck 2011 can do that for me.
For everyone reading this, I wish you ease from pain, rain where it's needed, sunshine where it's wanted, snow where it's relished, and all the peace, love, joy and plenty you can take. I love you all.
And a special note to some of you - you know who you are. Thank you. I've kept a list of all your addresses, saved in two places so as not to lose it. I said when I promised artwork-for-help that I might take some time doing it; thanks to deathtired I've already taken more than I meant. I just wanted to say I'm not forgetting, I'm not going to break that promise. But please be patient a bit longer. The pills are working, but I still don't have enough energy to throw balls for the dogs two days running and making art takes a lot out of me. Thank you, again, some more.
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

{{{HUGS}}} to you, Spike, Squish, and Cassy and Nhahma (hope I spelled that right, though I doubt it)
Have a good 2011

I lost my own Dad this year, just within the last week, but in a way he'd already been gone for several years due not to any sort of interpersonal breakdown but rather the cruel and nonsensical one of Alzheimer's. Still, I'm going to miss him for who he used to be and, with that in combination with the progression of brother's MS, I can definitely understand your wanting a break from "interesting times" because mine don't look as if they're coming to a close any time soon.
Well...
(Anonymous) 2011-01-13 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)2010 was a year that was far to keen on Messers Cahn and Van Heusen. Or even Mr D Martin. Big on kicks in the head and holes in the boat (though low on kisses and hugs). But that's the thing about years. However good or bad they are, they're better than not having them at all :-).
Hmmm. That reminds me. Must go find where I put your email address and add you to my alpha and beta reader groups at foolandfair - not that you have to read anything, but it might amuse you. Or not... :-PPP.

Re: Well...
I haven't had the energy to do a lot of reading, especially stuff I have to sit at the computer to read. But I would LOVE to have access to your work because it's never been less than awesome.
Re: Well...
Well and all. You should have an email - I added you :-P. Working on 'Road like a river' at the moment - not my general style, but I rather like it. Just passed 50K words. Probably four or five chapters to go. It would probably get me burned in every state south of Mr Mason and Mr Dixon - heck, likely the ones north as well :-P. There's a chapter where somebody decks (G)(g)od and accuses him of wanting a BJ... :-PPPPPPP. What? _Me_? Evil minded? Perish the thought!
