It's the pick a line from 20 songs game!

Play 20 MP3s at random.
Pick a line from each one.
Everyone who correctly identifies a song gets a smiley. Try and get the artist right as well - not all of them are the artist you might think.

1. If I show you the roses, will you follow? (Nick Cave and Kylie - Where The Wild Roses Go - [livejournal.com profile] jhovall)

2. Go get me my pistol, babe - you know I can't tell right from wrong...

3. Up go the flaps, down go the wheels

4. And when I tried it, I could see you fall

5. I looked at the place where my legs used to be (The Band Played Waltzing Matilda- The Pogues - [livejournal.com profile] jhovall and [livejournal.com profile] orac_zen)

6. Take me back to the days of the foreign telegrams and the all night rock & rolling (Michelle Shocked - Anchorage - [livejournal.com profile] niorah)

7. Tell the story on my grave, my soul they could not save - What the bullet would not kill, the needle will.

8. You always like it undercover, tucked down between your dirty sheets

9. Stomping our feet on the wooden boards, never gotta worry 'bout locking the door

10. He'll rekindle all the dreams it took you a lifetime to destroy (Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - Red Right Hand - [livejournal.com profile] myrystyr)

11. And all your dreams have vanished, And you don't know what's up the bend

12. Well, it's apples in the summer time, peaches in the fall. If I can't have the gal I want I won't have none at all.

13. I'm drinking heartbreak motor oil and Bombay gin (Warren Zevon - Sleep When I'm Dead - [livejournal.com profile] kronob)

14. Try to kill it all the way, but I remember everything (Johnny Cash - Hurt - [livejournal.com profile] james_the_evil1)

15. Well, I’m gonna show you, baby, that a woman can be tough (Big Brother and the Holding Company - Piece Of My Heart - [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom)

16. I'll make an old woman blush, and make a young woman squeal (George Thorogood and the Destroyers - Bad To The Bone - [livejournal.com profile] orac_zen)

17. She was too pat to open and too cool to bluff

18. When the winds of changes shift

19. Tried to please her, she only played one night stands now (Day Tripper - Paul Weller/Oasis/Ocean Colour Scene - [livejournal.com profile] peaseblossom mostly guessed)

20. Well, you know I even outran the hound dogs - Honey, you know I've earned your love.

Am staying incommunicado today. Just feel like being alone for a change - lately I've been spending all day in the Terran chatroom and on IM, perhaps I'm a bit burned out, I don't know.

Squish has been so good lately that I tried him offleash on the little greenspace. He's not quite ready for that yet, I find - although he did come back to me voluntarily, but only after circling the block twice at top speed. Ah well, two steps forward, one step back...

Continue to be irritated and hurt by one person's behaviour. Am equally determined not to give in, especially since he hasn't bothered to PM or anything, never mind actually attempt to keep the promise I've been waiting on for months - I did get asked what the matter was on a public forum but he knew perfectly well I wasn't going to go into it there. Chickenshit, avoidant behaviour. I expected better.

I'll take the easy one first, although some of these are very familiar...

16. I'll make an old woman blush, and make a young woman squeal
"Bad to the Bone", George Thoroughgood (sp??) and the Destroyers.

[identity profile] lizblackdog.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Still no. Don't believe I've heard him sing it, just the version I have here - which is damn good...

[identity profile] orac-zen.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
How embarrassing - I really ought to know this one...
ext_15855: (Default)

[identity profile] lizblackdog.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
You know the song, at least. Clue - the band is not Australian...

[identity profile] orac-zen.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
The Pogues? I've never heard that version, but it exists - right?
ext_15855: (Default)

[identity profile] lizblackdog.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Indeed it does. Share the smiley with [livejournal.com profile] jhovall: Image

[identity profile] orac-zen.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! And thank you. :)

Now to try to remember a few more... :D

[identity profile] jhovall.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks for the rose!

And no idea on the performer.

[identity profile] peaseblossom03.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
15: Piece of My Heart, Big Brother and the Holding Company (with the inimitable Janis Joplin on lead vocal)

[identity profile] lizblackdog.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Probably no one will, so I'll tell you - I found a recording of it by Paul Weller, with Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene. Excellent stuff.

[identity profile] brendan-moody.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know any of the remaining songs, but would like to take this opportunity to castigate myself for not recognizing #5, which is one of my favorite songs in the world. My favored version is by Liam Clancy.

[identity profile] james-the-evil1.livejournal.com 2005-05-05 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Piffle. Peas beat me to "Piece of My Heart," and you hadn't posted it.

#14 is "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails, but you might be listening to Johnny Cash's kick-ass cover of it.
ext_15855: (Default)

[identity profile] lizblackdog.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I have both versions on my playlist, but Johnny Cash was the one playing at the time.

Your smiley is: Image

[identity profile] james-the-evil1.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yay for me
And I love my smiley *leer*
I figured it was Johnny's version, I have most of the covers from that album

Good morning, btw
I'm about to go to bed so I can sleep 2 hours LOL
ext_15855: (Default)

[identity profile] lizblackdog.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
I thought you'd like it. I don't have many opportunities to use that one on message boards and such...

Sleep well...

[identity profile] james-the-evil1.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't mind the chance to "use it"
heh heh heh
ext_15855: (Default)

[identity profile] lizblackdog.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
Go to bed!

Or not. Not sure two hours is worth bothering with... if it was me I'd just drink more coffee and stay up...

[identity profile] james-the-evil1.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
hour or so usually beats nothing for me

[identity profile] kronob.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
13 is 'I'll Sleep When I'm Dead' by Warren Zevon..and if it's a different artist then well yer cheating ;)
ext_15855: (Default)

[identity profile] lizblackdog.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Not cheating, and it is indeed. And the smiley: Image

[identity profile] james-the-evil1.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
GAH
You WOULD pick just about the only Warren Zevon song I DON'T know by heart

[identity profile] lizblackdog.livejournal.com 2005-05-06 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
Yay Niorah! I wondered if anyone would get that. "Short Sharp Shocked" was one of the albums lost in the Great SIL Vinyl Massacre.

Here's your smiley: Image
