Still locked out of TBBS. I spent two hours on the phone to ntl Tech Support, and after jumping through several hoops with a very nice bloke with a sexy Welsh accent, they seem to think my IP address is specifically locked out for some reason. So I went to the library and logged on from there, PM'd Charles and spent an all-too-brief hour catching up with my Commies... now it's just a question of waiting...

In the meantime, because I'm bored to the bone:

So I took the Black Pack to the park for their evening constitutional, and we were halfway to the playground when I noticed I was missing a small German Shorthaired Pointer. I was just starting to get annoyed when I heard Max's unmistakable irritating, shrill yapping coming from an elder thicket in the middle of the park. He was alternately pointing and doing the Happy Dance, complete with sound effects, and I could just see the small white object which was the focus of his attention.

So I drew closer, and I found it was a rat. A white rat, or more accurately, a silver rat with beautiful dark eyes. It didn't object to being picked up and snuggled quite happily in the crook of my arm while I told Max what a very clever boy he'd been - his instincts seem to be in the right place, even if the yapping and the Happy Dance don't quite conform to the classic pointer style...

The rat proved to be a female on closer inspection, and I decided to stick with the Buffy theme and named her Amy. Spike tried to rugby-tackle me when he caught her scent, which startled her enough to make her pee down my sleeve, but she didn't bite me or make a run for it and Spike calmed down when I gave him the correct command ('PACK THAT IN, YOU EVIL GIT!' - it covers almost everything I don't want him to do...)

I was a little apprehensive about taking her home - we don't have any rat cages knocking about and the Black Pack includes Mum's cat Maisie the Slayer... but luckily Martine showed up in the park and turned out to be a long-time rat lover. So that was that problem solved. I'm a little regretful, to be sure - Amy's a beautiful, friendly rat and I've always fancied keeping them - but now isn't exactly a great time to turn up with yet another unplanned pet, so it's probably for the best.

And I still can't access TBBS, and I still haven't heard from Charles... if any of you over there see Huntingdon behaving strangely with his eyes glowing, you'll know I've decided to take my Pah-Wraith analogy a little further, and you should probably log off before your keyboard goes up in flames...
