OMFG that was hard. And TrekBBS down too, just when I'd started posting there again after weeks and weeks of not even clicking on it.

I've been back at TerranBBS as well. I've become so sucked into LJ that I've felt very disinclined to post anywhere else for a long time, but I had the bright idea of talking some of my LJ cronies into registering - so far we have [livejournal.com profile] cottonmanifesto over there. I'd like a few others. I hope it takes.

Fireworks were pretty bad, but we seem to have come through OK. The cats were a huge help. I could see Spike visibly relax and perk up when they all piled out of the cat room and Fat Hamish rubbed against his legs and purred. Cats may suck, but they certainly have their uses.

Talking to [livejournal.com profile] crzmslmaven the other day has got me all interested in the idea of spinning dog hair into yarn. Spike has lovely fluffy silky hair that's (probably, just) long enough to spin. It's a nearly free hobby (I'd need a drop spindle but those are cheap and that's all) and it's a thing I could do while sitting watching TV programs - I could have a Spike scarf by next spring if I keep at it. I have quite a bagful of nice soft Spikefluff gathered already!

There's a movie meme doing the rounds of my f-list right now - mostly the TrekBBS crowd. I'm not doing it because I don't remember how many movies I've seen, and I already know I have no life. I'm just wondering, is there a reason why almost none of you used an lj-cut when you posted it?

I love you all. But it's a damn long meme...

Best TrekBBS thread ever, or proof that we Misc posters are all secretly eight years old?

You be the judge...

OMG OMG HALFWAY DONE!!!!

*happy dance*

woot woot woot!!!

...what, you wanted a sensible entry? It's two in the damn morning and I'm caffeined to the gills, you gotta be kidding!

No, instead of making sense I'm going to tell you about the TrekBBS Admirals' Lounge Mascot. No-one knows where he came from; [livejournal.com profile] spocked was the first one to draw our attention to the grossly obese rodent with the bad attitude who'd taken up residence in our personal corner of cyberspace:

bleargh. so much still to write up from the weekend. The people, the Chinese food, the reason the animatronic T.Rex means I have to write a new verse for The Hedgehog Can Never Be Buggered At All (see title for a clue), meeting [livejournal.com profile] christinuviel, Regent's Park, my brief glimpse of Bifest and the view off Blackfriars Bridge (and how I was humming the eponymous TMTCH song as I crossed it) and all kinds of fun things.

trouble is, one of you sick buggers has given me your foul germs (I suspect [livejournal.com profile] benjamin_sisko because I too have the Dalek voice now) and I'm sick as a fucking parrot and don't feel up to typing much now.

fortunately, I met one of my neighbours - I think I'll christen him Stark for LJ purposes, he has the same wide-eyed batshit insane enthusiastic quality and I can just picture him doing the "my side your side" routine - and he gave me a pack of flu-strength Lem-sip with added decongestant, so I might feel better later - or at least well enough to walk to the shops and buy some ginger and cold meds of my own.

see, this is why I don't tell Stark to fuck off when he knocks on my door at midnight needing Rizlas, and why I lent downstairs couple with the Dingo bus fare a few weeks back. Karma. Downstairs couple are friends with a butcher at the Conservative club and they paid me back in marrow bones, and today I have decongestants.

Going to bed now. If there's anything I need to remember tomorrow that I might not have done, someone comment and tell me? Because you know I'll check in the morning, even though I have to be out the door at 0630...

*camera batteries! the camera's in my rucksack already but the batteries are in the charger.

*pick up something to eat/drink on the coach. am unlikely to sleep so a litre of Red Bull is probably a good plan, otherwise I'll be yawning at the dinosaurs all day.

*don't forget to take enough dog food to Mum's! Saturday supper, Sunday breakfast and supper = two chicken pieces and four packs of mince. will go bag those up now.

*don't forget your phone. It's on its charger.

*don't forget your brace.

Someone mentioned Barrett's Privateers in a TrekBBS thread and now I can't stop playing and singing it.

I have two versions - Stan Rogers, and one which claims to be The Irish Descendants in the metadata and Great Big Sea in the filename, and which I suspect of being both together. Anyone got any others? I love this song!

It makes the dogs excited, too.

Oops. I realised yesterday that Spike's vet appointment clashed with my physiotherapist appointment today. I'm so glad the physio has dogs, she was quite happy to reschedule.

This seems to be "I really need a TARDIS" week: also found out that Bifest clashes with UK TrekBBS Meet V: The Spam Frontier - which means [livejournal.com profile] topbit won't be at one and I won't be at the other, which is a bit sad, although it might be fun to bring the two groups together sometime after picking the last shreds of flesh off the crispy duck. We'll see how everyone feels and what the logistics are like on the day.

Changed my userinfo slightly. It never felt quite right having a Garak quote up there. The new one is a little more me. Go read it.

..talking of a little more me, anyone who hasn't voted for me in The Great TrekBBS Boob-Off Poll, go do it now. I think you may have to be a registered member, but most of you would enjoy being registered members anyway. My ego can't take losing this one!

Bad arm day today, which means it's going to be great fun restraining the Evil Bugger at the vet's. Sod physiotherapy, I think my idea of just gnawing it off was the right one...
