Oh, man, that was fun. Too brainfrelled to post much about it now, I'll do that in the morning, or more likely the afternoon.

We really didn't get drunk, you know...

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal...
5. ...along with these instructions.

"Cigars should be like onions," she said, unfastening the catch and pushing back the pane.

From The Blue Sword, by Robin McKinley - highly recommended, despite the surrealism of that particular sentence...

Destiny: Temporary Blindness
The soap gods have spoken! Temporary blindness is
your destiny. You're probably not thrilled
about this, but look on the bright
side...er...that is...it's not all bad.
Everyone will overlook your fashion faux pas,
and you will get to be noble and courageous.
Imagine it: everyone will fall in love with you
as, led by your new dog Regis, you complete a
marathon or walk through a blizzard or buy
something on eBay. And the key word is
temporary...hold on to that when things start
getting blurry. Stay tuned!

OK, who told the memesmith about my Gul Dukat fixation?

I've basically slept all day today. I watched the first four episodes of B5 and the latest Enterprise (Brent Spiner, Orion slave girls, T'Pol kicking arse... it gets better and better!) but I kept falling asleep and then having to start it over again.

We had a brilliant time yesterday. Naraht's two friends are kindred spirits, and I intend to bully her till she makes them join. Linda (or possibly Lynda, who knows?) reminds me of me a little - Katie is quieter, but there was a sly humour and slightly twisted wit there that'll come over marvellously on the Board. Neal is even cuter in the flesh - who'd have thought that possible? Hunt is - well, he's Hunt. I think he may have inherited the title of my Official Bestest Friend from Mike... actually, the two of them are pretty alike, now that I think about it - apart from the self-destructive impulse, thank Heaven. Naraht and Debbie (mon capitaine) were less quiet than the first time, as the core meet-up gang becomes more established.

Less tired, but my brain is still like porridge - not helped by the fact that the fireworks have been going off all night and poor Spike is a nervous wreck. I had to spend an hour cradling his head in my armpit, massaging his ears and paws until he stopped shaking. Thankfully Max Puppy doesn't give a stuff about the bangs... two of them going off at once would be seriously not fun...

Too tired to get things moving on the board much, so here I am again...

The cafe in Leicester Square last night was magnificent, although desperately overpriced. Despite my horror at paying three quid for a scoop of ice cream, though, that pink grapefruit sorbet was near-orgasmically good...

I'm remembering some of the moments where someone would say something and make all of us choke on our drinks - sadly, most of the things said were either libellous or too complicated to explain, like the thing I did in the pub that gave Hunt the giggles, or the scurrilous gossip about fellow TBBS posters that always gets spread about in their absence... *evil grin*

And I've hardly mentioned the Zoo... that's a place that holds some very dear memories for me. John and I had Lifewatch memberships one year, either just before or just after we were married, and we went there every time we were in London. Our particular favourite spot was the Small Mammal House and Moonlight World... and I saw the dormice yesterday, I don't think we ever did see them before. The Prevost's Squirrels were in hiding, though - John and I were especially fond of those...

I've now got both Neal and Ulva on MSN, and there's no way I can do that and update at the same time. More thoughts on the day will have to wait...
