Interview meme update: here for your pleasure and curiosity are the answers to [livejournal.com profile] huntingdon's questions:

1. What's your best childhood memory?
The get-togethers my family used to have when we lived in Iran. We had money in those days, and we had a big house and a swimming pool, and I grew up as part of a huge mob of cousins - we were almost never apart, the whole mob would usually be sleeping en masse at the house of one or other set of parents. I was particularly close with Golnar, who was three weeks younger than me - we'd egg each other on to behave outrageously in public places, make prank telephone calls, and we once almost managed to drop her bed into the swimming pool before we were caught with it on the lawn... To this day "the beds" is a catchphrase in the family.

2. When did you get your first dog and what was it called?
He was a German Shepherd called Rusty (short for Rustam, a hero from Iranian folklore), and my parents bought him for me when my middle sister T was born, presumably so I wouldn't be too put out by having to share centre stage with a baby. I was only four, so he was really my mother's dog. His story has a sad ending - we left the country for a while and my father's sisters and the household staff (who were all Iranian and didn't understand or like dogs) kept him shut in an outdoor kennel while we were gone. I don't know if he was actively ill-treated or just ignored - either way, it had a very bad effect on him and he turned very aggressive after that. He had to be put down not long afterwards when he mauled one of my mother's friends.

Actually, Rusty doesn't really qualify. I was too young to have had very much to do with him and I barely remember him. My real first dog was Katie, the German Shorthaired Pointer that my mother bought from some returning expats when I was seven. She was fantastic - my best friend, roommate and confidante until she died when I was seventeen. She was the one that made me the dog nut I am today. I'll try and find some pics of her later, my sister has put some of the old family photos on a CD...

3. Have you bought those gloves I recommended?

4. What non-mainstream book have you read that you'd particularly recommend to people?
The Earthsea Trilogy by Ursula LeGuin. I'd also recommend The Dispossessed, by the same author, but if they haven't read her before then Earthsea would be a better place to start.

5. How many people have you cybered with? Numbers only! ;)
Only the two, actually, and you know who they are. There've been a few others that I've talked dirty with, sometimes to the point of arousal, but that qualified as more flirting that actual cybersex. I can be a slut, yes, but I've always been a picky one - I'm also happier doing it on a message board format (i.e. the Terran 18+ forum) and it takes someone rather special to want to do that.

And another meme, just to finish on a sticky note:
