The interview meme rolls ever on and on. Today's opportunity for me to talk endlessly about myself comes courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] captain_ice:

1. If you had the ability to go back and do something over in your life, would you?
I honestly don't know. I suspect not, despite the loss, the ten-year fuck-up and reboot. I like the person I am now, and I wouldn't be that person if I hadn't made the mistakes I learned so much from.

2. What would it be?
One day in November 1995, I stopped at a chemist and bought a bottle of codeine cough syrup. I knew it had sufficient codeine in it to make me high if I drank the whole bottle in one go. I was curious, and wanted to explore different states of being. I drank it. I really liked that feeling. That was the first domino that knocked the whole line of dominoes down, the horseshoe nail that led to the loss of the kingdom.

The thing is, if I hadn't done that, I'd still be carrying that unsatisfied curiosity around. It's not like I hadn't heard all the anti-drug stories - but it still took first hand experience to make me understand them. And I'm not someone who can resist temptation or deny curiosity, even these days. However much I twist this question around, I can't make myself believe that I would have avoided fucking up somehow, and I also can't see a change I could have made that would have enabled both John and I to come out of it alive, much as I'd like to. And although a large part of me would like to choose to be the one who died, a larger part would never put someone I loved through that. John was a better person than I am in many ways, but he didn't have anywhere near my stubbornness, resilience and toughness.

Time isn't linear. Whatever happens, stays happened. I can't get round that.

3. Who is your favorite Star Trek character?
You've been on the same BBS as me for a year and you don't know it's Gul Dukat? Unobservant much? [livejournal.com profile] grimprime already asked me why, in this entry here.

4. What appeals to you about Star Trek?
I like alternate realities that I can live in in my imagination. I especially love this one because of the huge numbers of people that already live and tell stories here - I have a huge number of virtual playmates to choose from this way, all with a common frame of reference tight enough that we don't need long explanations, yet loose enough to fit our own stories into. I love that it will never stop growing, that I'll never run out of stories to hear or people to tell my stories to. There might even be a part of me that likes the idea of the human race actually finding a way to haul itself out of the disasters it's created for itself, romantic nonsense though it is... unlike a lot of Trekkies, though, that's not a primary motivation for me, and neither are the shiny spaceships.

5. If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world, where would it be?
Again, this entry answers that one. You must have read it before I edited Grim's questions in, or not at all. Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Five questions for [livejournal.com profile] captain_ice

1. Desert Island Books: which five books would you rather not live without?

2. Describe either your bedroom, or the room that you feel the most comfortable in if that isn't your bedroom. Tell me why it looks like it does, and what you like about it.

3. Imagine you've died and will be reincarnated as an animal - which animal do you choose, and why?

4. Throwing your question back at you, because it's interesting - what, if anything, in your life would you think about doing over again? What result would you hope for?

5. When did you first get in touch with your kinky side?

and five for [livejournal.com profile] romulantbonz

1. Again: which five books would you take to a desert island?

2. and again, again: Imagine you've died and will be reincarnated as an animal - which animal do you choose, and why?

3. Pretend that you aren't TrekBBS staff, and pretend that you're allowed to choose only one board to be a member of: TrekBBS or TrollKingdom?

4. What's been the happiest time in your life so far?

5. Which song sparks the strongest emotions in you? And why?

And, unrelated to the meme, is there anywhere I can read your stories?

Squish just started wagging his tail really hard in his sleep. He must be dreaming happy dreams, bless him... Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I have both hurt my knee and given myself a huge blister on the sole of my foot, of all the stupid places, so I can barely walk. Luckily, I did give the dogs a good run in the park yesterday - Spike loose and Squish on his long neon-pink line. The park is really too big to do that in, though - he started running really hard and snapped it. I think it's strong enough to work with him in the little greenspace, though - that's ringed round by hedges and he can't get so much speed up. Because, to be honest, nothing short of a steel cable's going to hold him if he's had time to reach full velocity.

And he was a good boy and carried on playing ball nicely and coming back to me after the line snapped. We are very pleased. WE ARE WINNING!!! Image hosted by Photobucket.com
