Well, that was fun.

Spike, at best, is never much more than two missed walks away from whackjob vampire mode. And I felt too crap to give them more than minimal exercise yesterday, so it wasn't a huge surprise when he tipped over the edge today. It's morning, I've had one mug of coffee and the dogs need taking out. I've put my shoes on, I've filled my coat pocket with baggies - the next step is to get Spike's harness on him.

You'd think a smart dog like Spike would understand that we don't get outside till he's wearing the frelling thing, wouldn't you? Well, he usually does. Today it was more fun to snatch the harness out of my hands and dance round the flat playing keep-away and killing it like a rat. I have taught him an off-switch for tug games, and when he's not in whackjob mode he'll show off very prettily by flicking from full-on raging tug-warrior to sitting pretty and back again on a word. But his incentive to do that is the chance to tug some more, and since I had no intention of playing tug with the damn harness and he knew it, that didn't work as well as usual. I don't play tug in the house anyway, because Squish can't stop himself barking his fool head off at the sight of it - and yes, he was keeping up the yapping chorus all the time Spike was piss-arsing about with the harness.

Took me near ten minutes to get the evil bugger harnessed and the pair of them out of the house. And that was just the first round-the-block-to-piss walk of the day. Oh joy.
