I thought love was only true in fairy tales

So when I looked in Spike's mouth this morning the growth thing was leaking pus. I am not going to stop worrying yet, but this lends a lot of weight to the theory that what's up is actually a deep infection caused by a wood splinter or other piece of crap he's driven into himself at some point.
