Oh yes - not always in a good way. They're both dominant characters and both young males, and there's always been a certain amount of rivalry between them - and Spike does have mean moments where Squish is concerned, because Squish is somewhat socially retarded (due to being isolated from other dogs at a young age) - Squish doesn't understand the rules of dog society as well as he ought to, and he doesn't show the proper submissive attitude to the senior dog very well. So Spike has to thump him every now and again to keep him in his place.
They've never hurt each other, though - it's all just sound and fury. But quite effective for teaching Squish the rules...
