arghhh! I've been not letting Spike climb trees or leap walls since he hurt himself and of course, he's gone all pressure-cooker on me.

Walking out this morning for the day's first walk - the first thing was an eyeballing session with one of the downstairs cats, a bobtailed black beast who habitually sits in his owner's open window or lurks in the hedge by the front door. We meet this cat nearly every day and he's much less afraid of the dogs than he used to be, but Spike is Spike and long familiarity never makes an OMGCAT!!! any less exciting for him.

Next thing was a guy visiting the flats - he was one of the men who'd been in charge of doing the kitchens. He knew the dogs, called out a greeting and he was wearing one of those workman dayglo yellow vests - two more overexcitement triggers. Spike couldn't hold it in any longer and barked while the man was greeting him. Unfortunately this made the man wave the newspaper he was holding in a mock-"I'ma gonna smack you!" way - oh no, you didn't just do that! Spike really doesn't like rolled-up newspapers. APESHIT.

he didn't attack the guy, he wasn't trying to bite him, and, luckily, the guy has dogs himself and realised that - but the jumping in his face, barking and grabbing at his jacket and the newspaper looked awfully attack-like and must have been a tad scary.

what I love best about Spike is that however nuts he is, he will always listen to "E-NOUGH!" - although I had to use a very big deep voice for it, today.

going to sister T's with sister E today, leaving the dogs at Grimmauld Place. Will ask E to leave me there and I can use the garden for some play and letting-off of steam, and the walk back will do him good too. poor darling.

not going to get the chance to get to the pharmacy today. am about to phone them and make sure they have the pills waiting.
