An Equal Music by Vikram Seth, because it's the most beautiful book I've ever read. I just finished The Kite Runner, which was traumatic but great, and I'm also rather fond of Swimming the Channel, by Sally Friedman, because it made me understand loss.
Serenity - not seen it sadly so don't know. Still watching my way through Firefly.
