spent half the evening with icepacks on both wrists after tripping/getting pulled over this afternoon and coming down heavy on the tarmac. did not let go of the leashes. the scrapes still sting somewhat but thankfully the ice cut out the worst of the bruising - I really thought I wouldn't be able to use either wrist or my left knee for a while there.

there are kittens EVERYWHERE. racing round the floor, pouncing on the dogs, wrestling each other, wrestling Cassie, climbing up the walls, doing the kitten version of the weasel war dance, falling in the dogs' water bowls, climbing up my legs. Spike is getting dizzy trying to keep up, Squish has wisely decided to just lie down and watch the fun and Cassie is alternating between being Protective Mum and remembering that she's still a kitten herself and joining in the wrestling and pouncing games.

I have tried to take a few pics but they're all just moving too fast. I got a few shots of blurred animal parts and gave up. If they'd only do this during daylight hours I'd get you a video but the mass zoomies seems to be an evening thing.

I had a completely different entry composed in my head, all about man belly and the tactile qualities of dogs' ears, but I can't write a damn thing in the middle of this fucking zoo.

it's SO MUCH FUN!

How few short weeks ago was it you only had dogs and were boggling at the life transition of owning a cat? Almost seems like there was this entirely other [livejournal.com profile] lizblackdog I used to know. :D

talk about a baptism of fire, eh?

this was NOT what I had in mind when I decided I coupdm cope with a cat...

"ut I can't write a damn thing in the middle of this fucking zoo."

And I'm imagining you writing that while 2 kittens jump on your head.

Have you thought about charging admission? :D

Crazy cat ladies are not born, and they are not made. They are chosen.

Welcome to the sisterhood, darling. We've been expecting you.

or in my case, they have crazy cat-ladyhood thrust upon them!

don't get your hopes up, I still can't keep any of 'em. four weeks and we're back to just the black and whites.

I used to wear skirts a lot years ago in the summer. My last kitten used to like to climb up my leg and swing on my skirt! He was an absolute nut and grew up to be a real cuddlekins! :-)

I'm usually mostly nekkid in this weather (seriously, I only put clothes on to take the dogs out) so I'm kinda lacerated. They have SHARP little claws!

They've also been swinging on my computer chair. fun fun fun!

and I had Blade sitting on my shoulder tonight too, which is a bit of a breakthrough. He's the antisocial one...

i think i must have the best kitten ever. he is so not crazy and not wild. he hasn't wounded me at all yet. he does attack and bite my feet in the mornings, but he doesn't climb my flesh. mostly when he gets wild he plays with his toys and bites catzilla.

my coworker who has his three brothers is covered in wounds from captain retard climbing her legs all the time.

figment love! One of mine is like that, my tabby boy Blade. I've seen him wrestle with his sisters now and again but he spends most of his time hunting bits of fluff off by himself. A very quiet self-contained cat.

the three tortie girls are like howler monkeys on crack though. they chase the dogs and Elda attacked Squish's tail tonight.

Ha! Last time I had a kitten I was looking for a job. I'd show up to these interviews with little scratches all over my hands and arms, feeling like some kind of freak. "What, this? Was I in a car accident? Do I cut myself? Am I an escapee from cooking school? No, I have a kitten."

Sounds wonderful.

I'm torn between loving every second of it and just wanting my life and my bedroom back, to be honest. It'd be different if I'd signed up for kittens... I was just going to have one young-adult cat.

but, you take what the universe gives you, I guess. I can't say I regret them and I know I'll miss them like hell.

ooo, more joint injuries, I hope you are OK, that sounds painful. Enjoy your mad zoo, it's all going to seem so quiet in a few weeks.

Your kitten stories really make me miss my cat.

it's par for the course with these dogs. It wasn't really their fault though - they were pulling but I wouldn't have gone face-down if my foot hadn't got fouled in my shoe.

yes. I have a feeling all four of us will be lost without the multicoloured marauders...

thanks to the ice, they are better this morning than I thought they'd be. I came down with my weight on the undersides of both wrists and the right was all purple and swollen, but that went down very satisfactorily.

still a bit achey though.
