Yes, absolutely. I've spent months now looking at the osprey-nest of dog-scented filth I live in and either crying or wanting to stab myself because it had just gotten so enormously squalid that I couldn't make myself even start to clear it up. I haven't made a big dent in it, but it's a visible dent and it's a start; and now I've got myself moving things will get better.
