Well, I just took Spike and Squish out with Squish on the long line - it did help. He did bugger off but I was able to stop him by stepping on it... then when I called him he came voluntarily. Much praise. Spike was rather unhelpful - it's harder to get Squish interested in playing fetch when Spike sharks every toy I throw out from in front of him.

I'm going to have to practise taking each one out by himself. At the moment I take them out together because I'm not keen on leaving either one in the flat alone - Spike would probably be all right, though he might bark a lot if he saw anything out of the window, but Squish is liable to raise holy hell. But if I start him on thirty seconds and work upwards I should be able to persuade him.

I really need a crate. I'm trying to imagine Spike's behaviour if/when I attempt to bring anyone back here for sex. It's not pretty...

Note to self: When trying to stop a 50lb raw-powered German Pointer at full speed on a long nylon line, do not have the line wrapped round your hand, especially not your right hand. Bleeding rope burn, ow ow owwwww....

And what's with the fuckin' weather? On Thursday it was still winter - yesterday and today it's suddenly morphed into June, and it's too hot for me and Spike. (61F, according to the first weather report I found on Google) I'd forgotten how much I hate summer, and last year was only bearable for Spike because he had his paddling pool handy - I don't see any feasible way to use it here. Grrr...

I know. Still, at least when people comment on the livid red weals circling my wrist, I can invent a story about deviant sex that makes my life sound much more interesting than it really is at present, so it's not all bad... :D

You may pass on some of that warm weather to me if you'd like! Anytime! Right now in fact!

The weather caught me by surprise, too - the flu had me locked indoors for over a week, and it'd been freezing before that, so when I came out on Wednesday to catch my train I felt like a right twonk in my big black coat and thick scarf :E Nearly died of heat exhaustion. Stupid weather.

You think that 61F is HOT?

ROFLMAO...you had better never come to Florida.

61F in the day for a high is very chilly for us and very rare.

At night, it is coolish.

You're so right. It would probably kill me and Spike... Squish has a thin coat and likes the heat, but Spike and I were designed for cool climates...
