Hah. I should know better by now than to brag about my superior immune system to someone who's coming down with the flu. Less than six hours after saying that, I have a sore throat, swollen glands, a runny nose and an uncontrollable urge to spend the next three days under a duvet - not that the last symptom is anything very unusual for me.

*cough* *hack* cough* *splutter*

I've also been having some annoying computer issues - Charlotte's RAM suddenly went from 340-something MB to 128MB overnight for no discernable reason (glitch in the Matrix? Nac MacFeegle? Kryptonite? Wormhole aliens?) and it's made everything very shaky - Firefox crashing twelve times a day and so on and so forth. So I haven't been online very much, and I'll probably carry on not being online very much for the time being. Doesn't mean I don't love you all, just means the Internet's a bit broken. See you when it (and I) are better.

...prolly from overuse.

I remember hearing a weird pop before I even started using it the other night. I was half asleep when I heard it. Woke up Sunday morning and the plastic was cracked and half off on the speed dial. :(((((((

At least it didn't explode or catch fire!

Seriously, I read a post in [livejournal.com profile] tmi_chix once about that happening to some poor girl. Can you imagine? 0_o

I think about half of my flist has gone down with something this week. Me included.

Hope yours doesn't last too long!

Do you use Mozilla Thunderbird for email? [livejournal.com profile] bovil posted the following this evening:

note to self... that "compact folders" option in the file menu of Mozilla Thunderbird is important when you're using IMAP. Run it at least once a month...

Apparently the folders have a tendency to bloat if not compacted regularly. His were bloated to about 16 times the total size of the actual messages contained therein.

Open casing, reseat RAM module(s), that will also fix the unreliability....

I've been thinking I should do that. I've been a bit scared to faff around in Charlotte's innards by myself, though, and I don't actually know which bit the RAM modules are. I was going to wait for offsite tech support (http://www.livejournal.com/users/topbit/), but he's sick too and I don't know when I'll see him again now. :(

Perhaps I will have a go myself. If all I do is just look at everything and give anything that looks wobbly a push I can't actually make it any worse, can I?
