Wheeeeee new kitchen! NEW KITCHEN!!!

My illustrious landlords, the great and bountiful Bournemouth Borough Council, are sending men tomorrow to rip out, tear, mutilate, fold, spindle, burn, take and DESTROY the nasty beige floor, the foul beige cupboards and the disgusting wood-effect Formica worktops that have been offending my finely-tuned aesthetic sense for the best part of a year now. They will be replaced by shiny new virgin-white cupboards, a dove-grey floor and a dark marbley slate-grey Formica, hopefully before the end of next week.

Apparently the white tiles are intended to be replaced with more white tiles. I can live quite happily with white - at least it's not bloody beige - but I can't help being very conscious that black tiles would be so very much better. I wonder if I can talk them into it? Maybe if I buy the tiles myself? I still have all my B&Q vouchers from Christmas. If they'll do it and if the tiles are cheap enough that I could still afford paint, I shall do that.

And, in other news, Bournemouth Munch tonight. I was this >< close to deciding not to go - no [livejournal.com profile] topbit, no [livejournal.com profile] manicmiranda... just the thought makes me come over all sad and meh. But that's no attitude to take, so I'll bloody well be there and damn well enjoy myself whether I like it or not.

This would be the first week in a long time I don't have any visible bruises. Bah. I don't know what I may have to do to restore my perv-cred...

He adores Maisie beyond all sense or reason. He follows her around wagging his tail hopefully and making puppy eyes at her and he practically wets himself with joy when she thwacks him on the nose or plays with him - he doesn't care which, he's just glad to be getting any kind of attention from her.

He spent a year trying to kill next door's cat Sukie after witnssing Sukie beating Maisie up on the garage roof. He normally loves all cats, but I saw his face and heard the growls when Sukie appeared on the fence - this one indiviudual cat he wanted to hurt, badly. Sukie ended up voluntarily becoming a completely indoor cat after a few months of that and to this day I can't say her name in his hearing without him going berserk. (No-one taught him Sukie's name - he picked it up by himself from listening intently to human conversations.) He also taught Squish the limits of acceptable behaviour around Maisie - Squish is allowed to approach her, sniff her or lick her face, but if he bounces, paws her, yaps at her or makes her hiss Spike disciplines him hard.

As for Maisie - she finds his obsessive psycho fanboy stalking a bit over-the-top, but she is much fonder of him than she likes to admit. She missed him a lot when we moved out and I've seen her rub her face on him in her mellower moments. Plus, she's a small cat that other cats tend to bully, and she did like having a bodyguard.
