Wheeeeee new kitchen! NEW KITCHEN!!!

My illustrious landlords, the great and bountiful Bournemouth Borough Council, are sending men tomorrow to rip out, tear, mutilate, fold, spindle, burn, take and DESTROY the nasty beige floor, the foul beige cupboards and the disgusting wood-effect Formica worktops that have been offending my finely-tuned aesthetic sense for the best part of a year now. They will be replaced by shiny new virgin-white cupboards, a dove-grey floor and a dark marbley slate-grey Formica, hopefully before the end of next week.

Apparently the white tiles are intended to be replaced with more white tiles. I can live quite happily with white - at least it's not bloody beige - but I can't help being very conscious that black tiles would be so very much better. I wonder if I can talk them into it? Maybe if I buy the tiles myself? I still have all my B&Q vouchers from Christmas. If they'll do it and if the tiles are cheap enough that I could still afford paint, I shall do that.

And, in other news, Bournemouth Munch tonight. I was this >< close to deciding not to go - no [livejournal.com profile] topbit, no [livejournal.com profile] manicmiranda... just the thought makes me come over all sad and meh. But that's no attitude to take, so I'll bloody well be there and damn well enjoy myself whether I like it or not.

This would be the first week in a long time I don't have any visible bruises. Bah. I don't know what I may have to do to restore my perv-cred...

congrats :)
As for the tile-problem: There is a special tile-paint. You can simply paint over the old tiles with it and after it dries thoroughly it's as waterproof as the original tile and looks totally tile-ish. It comes in a rather small range of colours, but black ought to be available, I think. Maybe you can get some on your next expedition to a DIY shop.
Good luck and have fun with the new kitchen! =)

That sounds like a better option. Be cheaper'n buying tiles too - enough that I could do the bathroom as well, perhaps. Thank you!
