I. Never. Get. Ill.

I. Never. Get. Ill.

I. Never. Get. Ill.

If I keep saying it it may stay true. I have a sore throat and my nose is running like mad - the thing is, I'm not sure if there's actually something wrong or if it's just irritation from the enormous quantity of dust generated by the kitchenwork.

Obviously I'll feel just as crappy either way - what matters is whether I might be contagious or not. And I've no idea. Bah.

I'd go break something but I don't have the energy.

The good news is that the kitchen's going to look fucking fabulous. They've put the units and worktop in and the sink's connected up. I chose white for the units (it was that or beige), but I was never asked about drawer and cupboard handles... it turns out those are made of tubular steel and they're absolutely perfect - they have the exact right look to go with what I wanted. I love Bournemouth Council more every day.

Oh yucky! It sounds like the same sickness I had. :(

Glad the kitchen is shaping up nicely though, at least you can make your ginger tea amidst beauty.

Except the kettle's in a box in the bedroom somewhere and the ginger tea is at the bottom of a big bag full of stuff from the cupboards and I can't get in the kitchen and I'm not sure where to plug the kettle in...

guh.

Ah, I'm just being whiny and grouchy. I'll haul the kettle out at some point this afternoon. I know ginger tea'll help.

I don't blame you. Feeling like crap brings out the whiner in everyone.

It's a good thing you didn't go sauna-ing, you'd have felt much worse today, most likely.

Oops. Hope I didn't give it to you :/

If it's anything like what I've got, curl up under a big thick blanket and eat ice cream. Actually, do that even if it isn't :P

^ Chicken soup?

What's driving me nuts is that I don't know what I've got. It's perfectly possible that it's just the dust and the unaccustomed waking up insanely early and the stress of having my flat full of strangers all day for three days.

On the other hand, if I am really ill, I ought to stop [livejournal.com profile] topbit coming to see me tomorrow because I really don't want him to catch anything. And I'd so hate to do that.

Mushroom soup for me, but the principle is sound. Blankets and hot things. In a manner of speaking.

There's certainly something going round up here - all my lectures sound like the Chronic Catarrh Sufferers' Annual Outing - but whether it's nationwide, I don't know. Like you say, could just be environmental factors. Fresh air?
Regardless, get well soon!

From what research I've done into such self-hypnosis/affirmation as ye've just attempted, the golden rule is: never say never. That is, if you use words like never, don't and not, the mind fixates on what it is never/don't/not being told to do. If you say 'never get ill' you will find yourself getting ill. Try positive instead of negative:

I Am In Excellent Health.

As proof that this works, I offer my own heart surgery, which I had at 14... the surgeon said I'd need another operation within 5 years - that was nigh on 20 years ago, and I have not needed another operation.

GET WELL SOON :)

Thank you.

I'm really not very susceptible to colds and flu very often, and when I do get them I shake them off pretty quick. But I'll remember that and rephrase the way I usually tell myself about it.
