I wanted to go out & do stuff today, and I can't face going out in this... it's coming down in torrents. Even the dogs don't want to go out; instead they're in the living room having Mexican stand-offs over the marrowbones I gave them yesterday.

The only way to get them to chew on one bone each is to shut one dog in the crate with one bone - otherwise they end up fighting over one all day while the other one rots untouched outside. But I have to open the cage eventually... Max spent the morning sitting on both bones, but he unwisely left the room for a moment. Spike, never one to miss an opportunity, took possession in his absence - now Max is alternating between lying flat on the floor with his puppy-dog begging eyes on, and prowling round working up the courage to challenge Spike directly....

It says a lot about the two dogs' priorities that Max generally wins arguments involving food, but Spike is undisputed master of toys and balls... Spike is the dominant dog overall, but only just, and he very rarely chooses to make an argument out of it. Max is far more willing to start trouble.

Am trying to send this damn rain over to Australia where people could actually do with it...

Find a way, willya? We could do with it to put out a couple of fires...

Good to know the kids are doing their job and keeping you amused. :D
