BORED BORED BORED BORED BORED BORED BORED BORED BORED BORED BORED. Oh, and cranky.

Can't type well enough to IM today, have watched Farscape, porn and Blake's 7 until my eyes and points south are sore, have walked dogs, have bought chocolate, all the BBS's are moribund and there's bugger-all going on on LJ. Don't have enough money for the naked sauna (I curse the day they started charging admittance for single women. They had a bunch of local bag ladies turning up for the free coffee and showers and making the place look untidy, so now it costs a fiver) and besides, I'm bleeding, which accounts for some of the cranky.

Please please please leave a comment. Say something. ANYTHING.

Oh, and because I try and give amusement for amusement, look what happened when [livejournal.com profile] altariel1 posted that spam meme: Death By Spam!

Well, I found it amusing. Possibly you had to be there.

Look! Over there! Fun stuff!

Er, I'm a bit bored too. I've been amusing myself by reading the latest Laurell K. Hamilton-bashing communities. I can point you in the general direction of that if you're interested - it might help to pass half an hour or so in mildly amusing fashion.

I've never read LKH yet, so I'd miss a lot of the references. I was put off by everyone saying what a loony bint she'd turned into and how crap her books had become...

Well, I enjoyed all of them up to the last "Micah" which was okay (for "crack for the brain-cheezy, sex-filled, supernatural, romance novel" stuff). But not as crazy, over-the-top as I've come to expect.

She's fun to read especially if you enjoy the sex stuff and the supernatural stud muffin stuff, but never EVER regard it as serious literature!!! And I'd still far rather read LKH's current stuff than Anne Rice's stuff from the last few years (talk about a writer who's work really went to shit!)

well, since you've read them, tell me - would someone who NEVER liked Anne Rice from the beginning be wasting her time reading them?

Not necessarily. Anne Rice's literature is pretty pompous and overblown. LKH's is fast paced and mostly like a private detective novel with lots of sex and supernatural cheesiness thrown in. They are a fast, no brain power necessary, read. Kinda like supernatural romance novels except the heroine is definitly NOT helpless (in fact she LOVES her knives and guns, trusts THEM over the men in her life....and, in fact, often comes to the rescue of the men in her life....LOL!)

LKH was okay for the first couple of books, then the relationship triangles became *so* boring... and you could tell when the author was pregnant by the increase in the amount and descriptive depth of gore in a book. I stopped reading after about the 7th or 8th Anita Blake Vampire Hunter book, cursing aloud "just kill one and marry the other guy, will you?!?!" ;)
