It is a fantastic piece of music - I also enjoy the implicit irony. Most people who don't think about it or read the words, who just hear it as background music for films or ads, probably think it's church music because, well, choirs and Latin. But when you read a bit you find that it's actually a bunch of coarse medieval drinking songs - the punk rock of its day, even.
And the Ray Manzarek version is especially good. He rocked it up without losing any of its essence - he did such a good job.
From way back - although there's a lot of their music I can't play now. They're one of the bands that tend to set Squish off howling and the neigbours complain if there's too much of that. Irritating dog.
