It's actually, finally, cold here. Last night I had to sleep with a cardigan on and a pointer on my feet. It was marvellous. Call me a freak (and I know
cottonmanifesto will, little tropical hothouse blossom that she is) but I spent too many years living outdoors to feel anything but stifled if the air's too warm for goosebumps.
It felt almost as though it might freeze tonight - it's one of those beautiful crystalline nights where the air fizzes in your blood and the stars feel close enough to smell, and Spike misbehaves from sheer joie de vivre.
All I need now for perfect joy and happiness is three feet of snow. *wishes hard*

Tempting as it is, I can't see hauling all the dogs and cats quite that far. Besides, I'm rather attached to this island.
(also YAYYY! I was just wondering how you were doing)

Re: On moving...
Well, as a mere, naive, ignorant provincial it was incumbent on me to move to, um, a province. And thrice YAY! Nobody can give me grief anymore for the quote... (BG).
As to the how and the doing... Well, this week I have rather too many hats ( I'm standing in for me, my boss { who has been on two week's vacation}, the senior Incident Coordinator { one week's vacation} and one of my prime technical resources). But that's OK, because we guv'mint workers sit round all day doing nothing and getting paid a fortune. Or so I'm told... (VBG).
As to the rest, well apart from a small drama last week ( my dearly beloved stubbed her toe, fell over and introduced the back of her head to the sharp edge of a wall corner. Head wounds bleed a _lot_... nearly two square metres of blood pool on the floor by the time I got back), life is... jolly spiffy! Fall is turning over fast, and the leaves are wandering from russet gold to blood red ( Fall maple leaves are amazing). We're past the typical peak of colour now, and November will be a little more subdued. But then Winter will come and the snows will fly... And I will continue to upset Canucks around me by walking through the whole thing in short sleeves. It took me a year or so to work out what people were saying when they kept asking me if I had lost my toque ( pronounced ' took', and intended to point out to me that I should be wearing a hat). I even had a police car pull up alongside me once and was asked if I had been mugged and had my non-existant jacket stolen... (G).
I may live in a city, but even over the city's neon spirit glow I can see the stars. And we have real _big_ skies here...

- I've not got the boots for it
- I've got bugger all balance and weak ankles and I hate hate hate falling over in it.

it's in the 60s here today, it rained last night, and this morning was wonderfully glittery and colorful. perfect.

I'm lucky, I have a furnace metabolism. All I need to do to be warm is just not to be standing still - walking the dogs tends to overheat me even in cold weather. Ears and all.

I like the cold more than I like it being unbearably hot. You can always get warmer but getting cool is much harder.

I'm with you on the cold. :) We had our first frost yesterday too. I love fall and winter best. :)

I'm jealous that its already cold there. I'm like you... As long as my hands are warm, I'm fine. My favorite thing to do after the first cold snap is pile all the dogs in the bed and the blankets piled high, a bottle of wine and black and white movies. I usually open the windows just to be sure it stays cold in the room, lol.
I can't wait.

Except the boiler at work isn't working so I'll freeze to death there... We'll have to dig out the promotional blankets again.

I feel kind of ambivalent about winter. I kind of like the cold, but I wish I could be home while it's still daylight. The dark and gloom start to get to me :(
