Dances With Dogs (not)

Been drinking Mum's sherry and feel considerably better... I've not had very much, but since I don't normally drink at all I can certainly feel a difference.

The moment 'Walk Like An Egyptian' started I stood up to dance with Spike. Spike and I always dance together... he's a fantastic mover who can read my mind. Max bumbled up to join in the game, and seemed to be making an effort with his little Happy Dance, but his presence threw Spike right off his stroke... Spike barked crossly and Max completely lost it, went for him and clamped onto his side like a Pit Bull. I had to pry them apart.

Bah! It's no fun dancing by myself!

Drink more sherry. You then bump into things so often that it feels like you're dancing with many people.

Do you keep a bucket of water with you when those two are around?

No. I can usually stop them just by yelling 'OY!' - they're packmates, they're just arguing, not trying to kill each other. Sometimes I have to grab Max by the scruff to really make the point. He's generally the more submissive one, but when his temper's roused he can be quite nasty...

I've heard that a water pistol can work wonders on animals when they misbehave, and it doesn't spray that much water around. Just enough to get their attention. And if your aim is good, it won't get on the carpet. :)

Oh, that does work - when I first got Spike he liked to get my attention by grabbing my arms in his teeth, and he's not good at pulling punches; I was black and blue for weeks, and the water pistol sorted that out beautifully... But a deep growly shout's usually enough to bring the Black Pack to their senses...
