My Squish dog is a big damn hero.

I was grilling burgers for lunch, and I opened the kitchen window just for a few minutes because the grill makes the kitchen very smoky. This was a very stupid mistake, and I will not ever do it again unless both cats are safely shut in the bedroom. Especially as I am not as good at watching the kitchen door as I think I am.

I did not see Cassie heading for the kitchen window. But Squish's frantic alert bark told me she was there, just in time to stop her taking a header out into the wild blue yonder.

I don't deserve dogs this good.

Isn't it awesome when the dogs 'know' their responsibility.

Years ago, when we had a dog, and only one cat, the cat had gotten out in the middle of the night, in a thunderstorm, because of a broken window screen.

Frantic, at 3 in the morning, I'm outside in my pajamas, 'whisper yelling' to find the cat. The dog was with me, and as soon as he saw the cat, he took off after it and held him down to make sure he couldn't get anywhere. Fantastic little dog. We miss him. (He passed away 8 years ago)

That's awesome :D

I love it when they look after each other.

Bless him, that's so clever and sweet of him. Murphy would have eaten all the cats by now. Heroic he is not!

He doesn't have Spike's abstract problem solving intelligence, but he really is clever about some things. When the kittens were very little still, he used to come and tell me when they climbed on anything high they might have fallen off. Spike was always too busy staring at them going "OMGKITTENS!"

give Mr Murphy a nose kiss from me!
