Spike finds a plastic bottle while on a walk.

Spike and Squish in Big Park.

These are two that turned out to be too big for Youtube, but Putfile came to the rescue, yay!

The second one is mislabelled because I thought I was uploading the bottle video, but I wasn't. I suppose I could delete and re-upload again, but... eh, no.

love it! thats the kind of enthusiasm puppy has for tennis balls! though if i put a bit of kibble into a plastic bottle, he'll go to town trying to get to it. i love how well spike listens! puppy still generally needs bribes to drop his tennis balls. he'll listen to drop it for other things, but he'd rather play keep-away than drop his precious balls. i just love how spike keeps jumping and hopping around while crinkling the plastic bottle. thank you for the smiles.

To be fair - Spike will only give things back easily if he KNOWS I only want it back to throw again. If he has reason to believe I want it back in order to End Playtime then the famous Border Collie Locking Jaw comes into operation and I have a fight on my hands.

Which is why I don't. I leash him up without trying to take his toy off him, then I walk him round on-leash till he drops it. If it's a good toy this can take half an hour. But he can't be forced or lied to, and he can't have toys in the house - he gets so insane with them that Squish gets upset and there's dogfights.

He's been very good at teaching me patience. And he keeps me honest.

Oh, and he can't be bribed to let go of a toy either. because no treat in the entire universe is better than balls.

Crick-ick! Crick-ick! Crick-ick! Crick-ick!

Oh Gods, he LOVES things that make a noise. He's an absolute nightmare if he gets his jaws on a squeaky toy. Most dogs will destroy those fairly quickly - but Spike can keep one squeakable for the best part of a year, and he will squeak it constantly every second it's in his possession.

Unless he drowns it, of course. They don't squeak when they're full of water. Luckily he loves water even more than noise.
