I feel weird and disconnected, so this is going to be a very random, rambling sort of entry - but I haven't written a thing for two days, so I feel bad.
Nothing much is happening here, the weather has been the sort that makes it hard to want to leave the house - also, I'm trying hard not to spend any money as I shall want it for next Saturday... Have decided not to dye my hair again, as it's pretty good as it is. I am slowly going back to my natural hair colour - a perfectly good dark chestnut with red lights, in case anyone's interested. I still have the bleached highlights, which make me more of a redhead than I was really born to be, but they look pretty good - it did occur to me to redo tham at the roots but they'd probably end up too light and strange looking if I did that.
I hear that
angriestangel is bringing an iPod to record everyone's voices, so you'll all get to hear my weird hybrid accent before too much longer. Should I think of a speech or just be spontaneous, I wonder? I suspect I'll end up saying 'umm' a lot if I don't have something mentally prepared...
Logged onto the Terran chat last night, which I've never done before. I was a bit spooked by the way it kept telling me I had forty seconds to enter my password or it would change my name... it was quite entertaining for a while, until they got started on Belgian boy scout bands... I quit when they got onto the 'is it canon or not' argument, though. That's one I won't touch with a barge pole...
Spent a lot of Friday night on ICQ watching a baseball game and eating ice cream with SPOCKED - does that count as a date, dear? ;) If so, it looks like the only one, since he's had ICQ switched off ever since...
One particularly obnoxious poster at TBBS is making a lot of fuss about the Lounges, as well as attempting to resurrect a very stupid, non-existent newbies vs oldies feud which no one but himself is interested in - since the whole thing seems to be for no other purpose but to point at himself and say 'I've been here longer than you, nah-na na nah-na' I don't know why anyone even responded, but I suppose Loungemods have to take this sort of crap a little more seriously than the rest of us... ours did a good job of deflating him without being insulting. Poor Angelpants got a little incensed over the whole thing - don't bother, darling, no one takes this idiot seriously... he fatally undermined his credibility for me a week ago when he bumped a two YEAR old thread in TrekToday.
My sister's friend has received the photos of Max and has asked me to email her with his history, temperament and behaviour... I haven't done it yet, but my five-pointed conscience has extracted a promise from me to do it today... on the one hand, I can't help feeling that the longer he stays here, the better my chances of keeping him permanently get; on the other hand, rehoming him through this friend is probably my best option if I do end up being forced to part with him... the whole thing is doing my head in...
I just watched him stalking a resting bluebottle across the living room very, very carefully... bless his little heart... The last two days he's been obsessively pawing at the shadows under my chair, which is most distracting when I'm trying to write something. Also, he keeps farting, which is even more distracting since he's usually about two feet below my nose when he does it. It's probably down to the excessive bone marrow in his diet the last week or so...
Had a good romp in the park with them both last night, accompanied by Maverick the Boxer, Hayden and little Jasmine... Jasmine is only seven, but she has the makings of a damn good dog trainer. She's one of the few people Spike doesn't subject to his usual 'snatch the ball away with a big grin just as you're about to kick it' routine, and she's a big help when I'm trying to watch two hyper dogs at once. Spike has also taken to lifting his leg over Maverick every time they meet - of course, it's impossible not to laugh at this, and Spike will never abandon any routine that gets a laugh... Last night he was in his William the Muddy mode - there are puddles all over the park, and most of them are clean enough, but the one Spike picked to lie down and cool off in was four inches of sticky mud. Don't imagine that he doesn't do it on purpose - if you saw the expression on his face you'd know as well as I do that he does... Thank Heaven for the Border Collie teflon coat... I only had to wipe the worst of it off with the official dogwiping towel, the rest fell off as soon as he was dry. He hasn't had a bath since the last time he rolled in fox shit (sometime in summer 2003) but he sparkles, and he spends enough time wet from the rain and the river not to smell too doggy.

Believe me, if you know Wuz, then you will kow that she has plenty of energy, if she can bounce all day over Farscape, flying to London won't be a problem.

Really? What are the odds? Obnoxious posters at TBBS? Say it ain't so. ;-)
It'd be great to see some kind of group pic from the Meetup ya'll are having. I kinda like having a visual when I read someone's posts.

Test data and diamonds....
Baseball? Which side of the fence were you on? You do realise that I now have to try to recruit you as a log distance Blue Jays supporter. SkyDome is about ten minutes walk from our apartment....

1: They're not the Yankees.
2: We are compassionate people who would like to see the curse lifted.
3: They're not from New York.
4: They do at least play in the American League, not that idiot National thing where the pitcher has to bat.
5: They're not owned by George Steinbrenner.
This can continue untill the end of the World Series, when you once again become a totally committed Jay of Blueness. You are deeply concerned that Carlos Delgado might want to actually earn a living and play for someone else. You worship at the feet of Reed Johnson and the O-dog ( Orlando Hudson) because O-dog has a cool nickname and Reed Johnson once knew your father. Or something. And Vernon Wells changes into his Jays gear in empty phone booths and wears his underpants over his uniform pants. He also has a big, mean blue bird on his chest where the S should be.
Oh, and you know the Jays are going to win the World Series next year. Or the one after. Or some year, anyway. And you would really love to go to a game, but you're committed to watching the Maple Leafs not win the Stanley cup again. (BG)
