snowdogs: Spike by the bins

these are rather crappy pics. It was 7am-ish, me having been up all night due to random inability to sleep, and when we got out there Spike was as excited about the snow as I was, wouldn't keep still and kept body-slamming me. So there's some collie-based camera shake going on. But the camera still seems to work OK even though he made me drop it.

SNOOOOOOOOOOOW!!!

most of what had fallen in the early hours melted during daylight. But it's started falling again, so hopefully I can do better later.

BALLS! you need bright orange fetch balls like we have. Although snow balls are amusing for the thrower, not so much for the fetchee.

Spike was. I didn't get any pics of him playing ball in it because I don't have enough hands. Squish was mostly just puzzled - but he isn't the hardcore weather-lover that Spike is, with that thin coat, and he's never really seen snow before.

Squish does seem to have that "Look here - what's this about?" expression in the one shot.

LOL. Spike fell for the first snowball I threw for him, five years ago when we last had enough snow to make balls with. He's too clever to fall for it twice.

We have bright neon-pink balls. Spike can't have tennis balls on account of his teeth so we have these yielding low-friction bright foam-rubber ones.

We don't have tennis balls either they pop too fast. We have kong balls and chuckit balls. Izzabell ~ gods love her ~ chases anything that moves including bubbles. Peanut head chases Izzy.

Spike goes through the foam rubber ones pretty fast too - he starts shredding them if he has to go more than thirty seconds without a throw. But his teeth are so worn down that I prefer a soft ball.

I'd use a chuckit if I had one fewer dog. What with juggling them both and the longleash I'm not willing to have one more bloody thing to carry. Also, Spike would grab it and break it sooner or later.

You know, I was thinking about you last night when I went to sleep and was hoping you had plenty of snow!!! Hope you get more *smooch*

so do i!!! Although it's a little annoying that it happened on the day i was supposed to be going with Mum to buy 30lbs of dogfood (and by dogfood I mean frozen raw mince). I'm going to have to walk to Asda to get enough to cover the next few days instead.

BUT SNOW. WE HAS ROMPED IN IT.

Just as an FYI, there's a good 30-40 cm of snow on the roof of the building outside my office. Just thought you'd like to know. :p

PBBBBBBBBBBBBT!

This is the most snow I've seen in six years, so I'm damn well excited about it!

I love when dogs get excited by snow. It makes the snow twice as exciting.
