Stuffy rag balls made so far: 12
Stuffy rag balls still sufficiently in one piece to be usable: 2

I'm also learning useful skills like how large, how solidly stuffed and how longtailed to make them for optimum throwability. About half again as big as a tennis ball works best, with a tail no more than six inches - a longer tail is less hard work to throw, but the added wind resistance stops it travelling any distance and while that's not a problem for sprinty dodgy Spike, it's annoying and unfair on distance-runner Squish who also has to put up with them.

Both dogs really love them though. Squish will catch his and then run around ecstatically shaking it to death before coming in for another throw; he even wants to play tuggy with them and he isn't a tuggy dog by inclination. Spike generally has to be reminded after the first throw that there won't be any more fetching if he rips the ball to pieces OMGRIGHT NOW.

Me, I'm going to do a charity shop crawl with Mum this week to stock up on cheap cotton socks, old sheets and throwable kids' stuffies.

I have a whole bag full of old socks that have holes but I kept for...umm, no apparent reason. I can post them to you if you want them!

Heh, probably cost more in postage than buying 'em, but it's a sweet thought XD

Wilf keeps demolishing my sock, knickers and bras. Nightmare.

Pound shops are good for cheap toys too, Wilf loves pulling the stuffing out of them so I just cut eyes off.

squish and spike must think you're VERY smart for learning so quickly how to please them! can you use the destroyed stuffy balls to stuff new balls?

ha, yes, I have been. The thing I'm running low on is pieces large enough to be the outside of a ball.
