I feel better than I did. Nothing's actually changed, I just refuse to stay down for long. And so many people were kind to me and cheered me up - captain_lila, santaman, james_the_evil1, photocat_0923, mogh and my beautiful, precious, heroic heart's dog, Captain Spike. Thank you all. I am trying to forget what might have been- especially as it was never even slightly likely to have been, and I knew that - and concentrating on what is.

I'm still here at Mum's. It seemed rude and unfeeling to dash home last night - besides, it was past midnight, and I want to take the chance to take the boys to the park separately now that I have someone to leave the spare dog with. Spike is all right on his own, but Squish can't tolerate it for more than five minutes, poor silly little sod - so they've been short of individual attention lately. That will be fun, especially with Spike - I don't have to worry about what he might do so I can just enjoy mucking about with him.

And Mum has brought me back enough tobacco not to have to buy any for three weeks, as well as a bag of candied kumquats. She tells me that kumquats are very popular in Corfu... I've never much seen the point of fresh ones, they're all peel, pips and pith and not a lot else, but the candied ones are divine. Bitter, sweet and intense - highly appropriate.
