I've had my new flat since March, and so far I've done very little in the way of redecorating, partly because I'm a lazy slut and partly because I don't have much money. I have put in a beautiful smooth black vinyl floor, but the effort more or less stopped there, till today.

The bedroom wallpaper is foul. My first sight of it brought Oscar Wilde's last words to mind, and it hasn't improved any on closer acquaintance. Here it is:

Isn't it revolting? Anyway, in an effort to clear today's existential angst and depression, I finally did something about it.

I thought it'd be difficult to get off. I've never done redecorating of any sort before - every place I've ever lived in has been rented or my parents' - well, this place is rented too, but I'm allowed to do anything I like to it short of major structural changes or damage.

It peeled off really easily. I didn't even need the metal spatula-shaped thingy I'd bought, except to loosen a couple of tight spots...

So now my bedroom has three scuffed magnolia walls, and one chalky white one. Anyone got any suggestions what to do with it now?

I'm thinking it might be fun to recreate the Quark's Bar mural on one wall:
