Am home. Squish is home too and he's fine. When I called the vet's surgery at four, the first thing I heard was that distinctive shrill barbarian yawp of his. The vet nurse is in love with him - they all are, pain in the arse though he is. I can only assume they're all deaf. He has a shaved patch on his leg which hardly shows at all, because his skin is spotted exactly the same as his fur - unlike Spike whose skin is pink under both the black and the white parts. Odd.

And me, I'm feverish from the heat despite wetting my hair and T-shirt down with cold water and drinking several pints of cool squash.

I need some ice cube trays. I also need a new vacuum cleaner. Luckily Argos has a little compact one I liked for only £17. Will probably get that on Wednesday when Mum takes Squish and I back to the vet for his check-up. That sort of thing is a million times easier if there's a car to lug it home in.

Didn't take Spike to the park, but I did fill up his kiddie pool in Mum's back garden and we spent a happy hour throwing the ball out of the patio doors while I sat on the couch watching Trials and Tribble-ations on Sky One. The Captain had a great time rolling in the water and I remembered to put the machine washable rug down for him to track the muddy water on. Good time had by all.

Three of those bamboo blinds will fit nicely across the lounge window, which will actually look better than one big one as well as costing about a third as much - also I'll be able to vary the amount of light getting in much better. I've no idea how they attach, but the girl at Customer Services at B&Q told me all the fittings and instructions were in the pack. I don't even have the energy to open the pack and look right now. In fact, I don't think I have the energy to read LJ or the BBS either... I think I'm just going to go and fan myself on the couch till things cool down a bit.
