I have a scarred, shaved cat in an e-collar feeling alternately furious and sorry for herself. She's showing very little sign of grogginess or sleepiness, unfortunately, and so far she's managed to remove the e-collar three times.

the vets gave me an enormous one, which I've cut down to about half its original size so that she can eat, drink and still has some peripheral vision, but can't bend round enough to lick at the incision. I hope they didn't want me to give it back. I don't care anyway, she was far too freaked-out by it at full size - she must have felt like a disembodied head.

the incision's on her flank. only about two stitches by the look of it. very neat job.

I also took Squish in to weigh him when I went to pick her up - they have a platform scale in the waiting room. I've not weighed him since he was a year old and he's filled out and muscled up a great deal in the last eighteen months. He weighs 28.2kg now. Anyone know what that is in pounds? Sixtyish? Bigger than I thought anyhow.

EDIT: She's now removed the e-collar five times in the space of two hours. I'm going to tighten it once more and then - er, dunno. Duct tape?
