Went shopping today with mum and sister E, to the big warehouse pet store for sister E to get cat supplies. I jumped at the chance to go too because there was a bunch of stuff I wanted that isn't sold anywhere I can walk to. I was hoping to get some natural meat-type dog treats like the puffed jerky they got for Winterthing, but there was nothing - dog treats were either biscuits, those synthetic plastic-looking ones or rawhide, none of which I'm willing to give my dogs. But I did stock up on Spike's soft rubber balls, and I bought Squish a harness and a proprietary long line that (touch wood) won't snap like a cobweb the first time he sees a squirrel, as his last four long lines have done.
Ten metres doesn't seem very long to me, but it'll be long enough for him to have a bit more fun than he's been having, poor baby. He's been getting very fed up with Spike being allowed offleash when he isn't. Haven't tried the line out, as it was dark when we got back, but I did walk him on the harness. It's the same size as Spike's, but Spike wears his adjusted to the smallest size and Squish's - well, it could be adjusted bigger, but not by much. Spotted brick shithouse.
haven't decided whether to hold onto the long line or tie it to the goalpost. the goalpost will allow me to effectively double its length for ball throwing purposes, holding it means we can move round the park more. Probably try both. It'll be good to see him smile again.
