lizblackdog: (John's medical scan)
( Jul. 13th, 2006 10:44 pm)
Many, many years ago, in the days before everybody had the Internet, John and I were given some American ferret magazines by some people in the Wessex Ferret Club. The WFC were rather scornful of American ferret-keeping in those days - they were all hard-core rabbit hunters and they pooh-poohed the notion of ferrets as indoor pets. They didn't even read the magazines; they refused to believe they might have anything to learn from people whose experience and outlook was so different from what they were used to.

Well, that was their loss, because the magazines and the person behind them were delightful. John and I wrote to her, and she wrote back, and it was one of the most enjoyable snail-mail correspondences of my life, second perhaps only to the letters John and I wrote to each other.

Years passed; the correspondence died, bad things happened. But eventually I recovered the use of my self and came to live on the Internet, joined a LiveJournal cat community, and saw a username I recognised. Proof that sooner or later, everyone comes to LiveJournal.

Greetings, love and everything good I can muster to [livejournal.com profile] fara_shimbo. You rock as much as you ever did.
