Richard Adams is one of my favourite writers ever. Try the book - hopefully the end of that will soothe the jangled nerves from the movie.

and yes, I am hugely upset by bad things happening to dogs in movies or books, to the point where I'll avoid them as a rule.

They end the movie with Snitter and Rowf swimming off into the middle of the ocean...it is implied that they drown. I am going to have to read the book to make this better in my head, because I find that ending to be really troubling.
I will probably read it after I'm through with these bunnies.
I completely understand avoiding books and movies where bad things happen to dogs. They make me hug Chalupa and get real sad.
