Well, the store-bought furry cat toys on elastic didn't last long (thank you Squish) so I've gone back to doing it Blue Peter style: Take two corrupted DVDs, three pigeon feathers and some string...

In other news, after a walk in the woods full of wild plum trees this morning and a short conversation with [livejournal.com profile] captain_ice - I have a cunning plan!

All this healthy eating's affecting my brain. Or something.

that actually sounds like it might be very delicious...
I may have to try making it...

also, I just watched this movie called "The Plague Dogs," It's not American, so nobody around here's heard of it...but now the movie is stuck in my head. I'm looking for someone else who's seen it so I can feel validated for being so disturbed by animated dog movies...so yes, have you seen it? (weird question? oh well.)

I've not seen the movie, but I've known and loved the book (by Richard Adams) for many years. You'd probably like it. It's disturbing as hell and parts of it make me cry but there is a happy ending.

The animated movie was really troubling...they cut out the happy ending and made it absolutely miserable in every way. I'm in the middle of reading "Watership Down," and I recently watched that movie as well...I guess I'm kind of on a kick.

Richard Adams is one of my favourite writers ever. Try the book - hopefully the end of that will soothe the jangled nerves from the movie.

and yes, I am hugely upset by bad things happening to dogs in movies or books, to the point where I'll avoid them as a rule.

From: [identity profile] danasaur.livejournal.com

They end the movie with Snitter and Rowf swimming off into the middle of the ocean...it is implied that they drown. I am going to have to read the book to make this better in my head, because I find that ending to be really troubling.
I will probably read it after I'm through with these bunnies.
I completely understand avoiding books and movies where bad things happen to dogs. They make me hug Chalupa and get real sad.

I keep trying to persuade my mother that we want to take one of your kittens *g*. Damn you and your photos! She keeps pointing out that I'm the one who's been complaining about how annoying our cats are for the last three months, though. Damn that logic!

Well, Callette and Shona are definitely spoken for - I did have a very nice lady with good references express an interest in Blade and/or Elda but she's gone quiet. I shall have to email her again - I really liked her as a prospective owner.

If that doesn't work out, there'll be one dignified small tiger and one orange crackmonkey still going...

Nah. I can't *actually* take one. I don't even really want a kitten, it's just you and your evil picture habit! Or, um, something. It's like crack.

Love the icon.

And Liz, I told you already I want Elda for my own! All we need to do is invent a matter transporter and edit the student handbook...

the shots of the two of them cuddled up on the 'puter are really precious!

Of course, I'm in love with all the pictures, especially the pirate...she is soooo cute.

I read Plague Dogs...I didn't know they made a movie of it, though.

He wrote another book, called Shardik; I can't find a copy of it, a friend borrowed mine and never gave it back; I really liked that book...and, didn't he write Tailchaser's Song, too. Love that one as well.

I think I still have my copy of Shardik; not certain. There's another one set in the same world, Maia, which is also very good - there's a lot of sex, nastiness and nasty sex, though, so I don't know if you'd fancy it.

Tailchaser's Song is Tad Williams, I think. I think I read it once.

Shardik was a harder read (or maybe all the dirty bits just made Maia easier for me!) but the two together make much more sense. I especially loved seeing some of the same characters younger - that was interesting.

OK, now I need to read it again because of this conversation. I can see Maia from here but I have a nasty feeling Shardik is at Grimmauld Place - if I even still have a copy, I am not at all certain. Arggh!

I forget how tiny the kits are and then in that picture with Spike - wow! they're still teeny!

Very cute.

I want a little stripey kitty. Don't tell.

OMG, the cuteness factor just went up yet again. Babies on the HD. That's just too much! Spike just cracks me up!
