oooh. i'd never even heard of that. And it does sound like a thing I'd be easily capable of doing, too. definitely one to look into further - thank you!
Virtual petsite employment, online surveys (I used to do a lot of those to supplement my income), texting stuff for KGB (have a friend who does that), and then of course there are the paid cybersexers and texters (which you can do from your computer.)
Virtual petsite employment's high on my list of Things I Might Possibly Be Good At That I'd Like To Do, though I have no idea how feasible that would be. The only reason i haven't yet attempted to pin you down and pick your brain about it's that you're in the throes of moving house and up to your neck.
I've considered paid cybersex before now. I'm just not sure I want to get into an area that has to be rife with scammery and the ...romantic? idealistic? hippie? side of me doesn't relish the thought of mixing sex and business on any level.
Yeah, mixing sex (which is pleasurable) with work (which is not so pleasurable all the time) always seems like a bit of a bad idea, even though it pays well. There are some very legit companies out there, but it's also my understanding that you deal with so many assholes and weirdos that it can pretty much ruin sex for you altogether, which is not cool in my book. xD
KGB is some dumb thing here where people can text a question to them and an "expert" will reply with an answer. I think you pay like $1 for the pleasure of not Googling it yourself, and the expert gets a percentage of that. It's not a lot, but the friend of mine who was doing it seems to enjoy it and it at least brings in a bit though it's certainly not something you could live off of alone.
As for VP employment, what questions have you got?
Website design and maintenance. Graphics design. I did this for a few years and made good money at it. Would have been better if I'd gotten more work, though. Yet... Worked at home. Was nice. Most of my work was tedious, though.
Some airlines have employees who work from home on a pc (I think online?) I remember when my aunt tried to get such a job.
The biggest problem I found with web design, maintenance, and graphics is that people are flaky as hell. I can't even begin to count the number of times people hired me and then skipped out entirely, either just plain not paying for product received, or changing their minds halfway through, or ...
The products were always quality, but the customers were not.
There's a lot of free tutorials online on how to do this or that. I'm self taught. I not only went to those sites, but borrowed library books and talked to friends who were professionals.
True. I didn't work freelance though, so it wasn't as big of an issue for me. Sure, it ticked me off when I heard someone flaking out. Sometimes I lost out on work and hours and therefore pay. But it was more for the co. to deal with. Eventually, I got more work.
You do need a good sense of humor, I think, to work with clients.

More seriously, there are beta testers for various websites and you can make a reasonable amount filling out surveys and trialling products. http://www.paid-4-surveys.co.uk/morepaidsurveysites_199163.html
Freelance journalism is another, although hardly a good income source until you become established.
