So I listened to what my underexercised dogs were praying for, and we went for a ball game - later than I planned because I remembered today was 45lbs of frozen meat, 50 day old chicks and a sack of cat litter delivery day, and I had to wait till they'd been and gone.

Unfortunately, only Spike got to actually play ball because a bunch of kids turned up with a football of their own. Once upon a time this would have meant up to half an hour to persuade Spike to give the kids' football back and be leashed and taken away - possibly the price of a new ball too, depending on his excitement level, but he's long since outgrown his pitch-invasion days.

But Squish has developed a fear of footballing kids and he wanted to leave, so we left. I took them round the top end of the park and he enjoyed rooting through hedges and he was smiling when we came home, so it wasn't a total let-down for him. Bloody summer holidays. I'll have to work out what times they're not there and plan accordingly. And work on desensitising. It's quite a recent thing. Odd dog.

Am a bit worried (in a paranoid overprotective way) about Spike's wrist. The ground was soft but he slipped a couple of times in a way I didn't entirely like. I've let him get horribly unfit.

Spent the morning & afternoon with [livejournal.com profile] entorien, mucking about with dogs, eating way too much at the Pizza Hut all you can eat buffet and having fun at Lakeland and the costume shop - was terrific until I was doubled over with cramps. It's that time again. Feh.

I stopped at Mum's to collect the dogs and felt too crappy to leave, so I'm staying here watching Star Trek on her cable TV. Any minute now I'm going to break into her sherry - best cure I know for stupid fucking killer cramps, except a hysterectomy - and every month I spend like this I am that much closer to attempting one at home. Ugh.
