Struggling with the cats, running with the dogs

Well, the store-bought furry cat toys on elastic didn't last long (thank you Squish) so I've gone back to doing it Blue Peter style: Take two corrupted DVDs, three pigeon feathers and some string...

In other news, after a walk in the woods full of wild plum trees this morning and a short conversation with captain_ice - I have a cunning plan!

All this healthy eating's affecting my brain. Or something.

also, I just watched this movie called "The Plague Dogs," It's not American, so nobody around here's heard of it...but now the movie is stuck in my head. I'm looking for someone else who's seen it so I can feel validated for being so disturbed by animated dog movies...so yes, have you seen it? (weird question? oh well.)

I've not seen the movie, but I've known and loved the book (by Richard Adams) for many years. You'd probably like it. It's disturbing as hell and parts of it make me cry but there is a happy ending.

The animated movie was really troubling...they cut out the happy ending and made it absolutely miserable in every way. I'm in the middle of reading "Watership Down," and I recently watched that movie as well...I guess I'm kind of on a kick.

Richard Adams is one of my favourite writers ever. Try the book - hopefully the end of that will soothe the jangled nerves from the movie.

and yes, I am hugely upset by bad things happening to dogs in movies or books, to the point where I'll avoid them as a rule.

They end the movie with Snitter and Rowf swimming off into the middle of the ocean...it is implied that they drown. I am going to have to read the book to make this better in my head, because I find that ending to be really troubling.
I will probably read it after I'm through with these bunnies.
I completely understand avoiding books and movies where bad things happen to dogs. They make me hug Chalupa and get real sad.
