Note to self: do not take your eyes off the dogs after handing out supper. I don't know for certain, but I have a nasty feeling Squish just ate both dogs' food.

Not blaming Squish. Blaming me for forgetting that my collie is a fucking freak who will walk away from uneaten food if he finds something suddenly interesting. Once I've shut the cats away there isn't usually anything else he's liable to be quite THAT distracted by, but still. Freak.

You can't take your eye off the buggers can you? Murphy ate about God knows how many little cooking apples from under out tree today in the space of about 5 mins. I caught him crunching away on the last one.

Maybe it will teach Squish to eat quick, lol.

Oh, this isn't the first time. Food is a lot lower on Spike's priority list than it is on Squish's - Spike won't eat at ALL if there's a cat in the room or a human that might be convinced to play with him. That's why I feed late at night and shut the cats in the catroom with their food. And I still have to stand over Spike and make sure he eats it sometimes.

Squish and Murphy are clearly two of a kind. Our old GSP that we had when I was a kid would get into my grandmother's garden and pick all the soft fruit if no one stopped her. Blackberries, gooseberries, blackcurrants, the lot.

And if you gave Spike a cooking apple he'd drop it at your feet till you threw it for him. Guess how I know XD

Houdini always eats his food when Boss brings it out. Usually, so do I. Squrrl might leave it for a while.

When Spike didn't have to share his living space with a furry garbage disposal on legs another dog, he used to take his time with his food. He'd still like to, but that isn't a great idea with Squish around.

I love that smile you're doing there in that icon. XD

My new dog (black and white boxer) broke into the food cabinet this afternoon and proceeded to raid the cabinet. Brandy went along for the ride. They ate three days worth of food. Needless to say, they're too bloated for dinner.

Oh, holy crap. I hope they're all right - aren't Boxers susceptible to bloat?

That's the sort of thing Squish would pull. Fortunately, the GSP I grew up with thoroughly broke me of the habit of ever, ever, leaving anything edible where a clever, determined dog could possibly reach it. Squish does catch me out sometimes, though - Katie didn't have his appetite for plastic.
