Black Doggerel

You know those poems you find on animal rescue homepages, and occasionally as signatures to animal rescue people's emails? If you have no idea what I'm on about there's a fair example of the genre on this page.

I can't ever look at one, even the laughably badly-written ones, without bursting into tears. And I don't need it, you rescue people. I may not be a very big or active part of the solution but I've always tried hard not to be part of the fucking problem. STOPPIT NOW. You're preaching to the fucking choir.

While you're at it, you can stop with the all-caps, the ~~~~~ and the **** *** *** in your damn transport emails too. I just have to strip the fuckers out when I crosspost and it's ANNOYING.

It's been a year since I last pimped driveforlife to my f-list. In that time it's had a hiatus, but those of you who added it last time may have noticed it's back in motion.

Here's the deal: Lots of dogs and cats in shelters across the USA can be saved if they can be moved to rescues, no-kill shelters and foster homes when there may not be room for them where they are. To do this, volunteer drivers are needed.

So if you have a car, are in the US and might be able to spare some driving time on a weekend, could you swing by and have a look? I'll love you forever if you do.

I'm taking this opportunity, since I have to post something, to plug another cause very dear to my heart. This one does not require you to send them money; but if you are in the USA and have the use of a car, I would like you to add the community to your list and watch for opportunities to help save a life.

There's also a new book out, all about rescue transports. I don't have a copy, but I don't need one in order to tell you it'll be all heartwarming and lovesome and full of beautiful stories and beautiful dogs.

Anyone on my f-list who's in the States, has a car and the odd free weekend and fancies saving lives?
